A housing lottery launches for 432 apartments at Bronx Point in Mott Haven

Housing lottery applications are open for 432 newly constructed apartments at 575 Exterior St., which is the first phase of a mixed-use development called Bronx Point. New Yorkers earning from $18,515 to $198,600 are eligible to apply, depending on the size of the household. Rents start at $465 for a studio.

The pet-friendly development in Mott Haven has an outdoor terrace, community room, bike room playroom and is home to the Universal Hip Hop Museum. Amenities are available to all tenants and all the apartments in the building are rent stabilized.

The available apartments include studios as well as one- and two-bedroom apartments. There’s a wide range in income eligibility with 130 apartments set aside for those earning 30 percent of the AMI. AMI depends on how many people you live with. Currently the AMI for New York City is $106,800 for a two-person household. Apartments are also available for those earning 50 percent, 80 percent, and 120 percent of the AMI.

The rent for a two bedroom for a household earning from $79,235 to $115,280 is $2,201. Tenants are responsible for electricity, which includes the oven.

The developers have set aside 50 percent of the rent-stabilized apartments for applicants who already live in the area. Another 5 percent of the apartments will be preferentially given to NYC employees. A small percentage of the apartments are also set aside for residents with mobility, vision, and hearing needs. 

Applications must be submitted online or postmarked no later than June 30th.
