The poop on "diapers-only" machines for laundry rooms

Apparently, there are few things more laundry-offensive than washing your kid's dirty cloth diapers in the communal laundry room: "I am totally in favor of cloth diapers BUT I would seriously consider trying to get a person removed from the building or go to the co-op board and complain if a shareholder in our building regularly washed dirty cloth diapers in the public machines," says one apartment dweller on UrbanBaby, summing up the common viewpoint on a thread that posits an interesting compromise: Why not reserve one machine for diapers only?

Most commenters agreed that while the idea is intriguing, it's just not practical: "There are times when ALL 24 of the machines in my building with 54 apts are being used. there is not enough time to allocate one to diapers only. Everyone in our building has laundry, but not everyone in the building has a DB AND uses cloth diapers." Other options? "Sounds like OP would need to move into some trendy co-op building in Williamsburg or Brooklyn Heights with the appropriate percentage of vegans and organic roof-gardeners, where such a request would fit right in," offers one. Or do what other cloth-loving parents do, suggests another: "Make it easy on yourself and sanitary for everyone else: Queen Bee Diaper Service."
