Many restaurants and cafes remain shut down in New York City, and the return of indoor dining remains some way off into the future. The reality is that much of the city's famed food scene is on pause.

That's why many people have taken up cooking at home, from baking bread to experimenting with complex recipes. The thrill of home cooking is a joy best experienced in a nice kitchen, of course—which makes right now a great time to search for rental apartments with gourmet kitchens.

Here are five apartments around the city with beautiful, spacious kitchens, available right now.

737 Park Ave., #3E, Upper East Side

Perfect for entertaining and relaxation alike, this three-bedroom, five-bath corner apartment is 3,100 square feet of tasteful Upper East Side prestige. The hearth of the home is the windowed eat-in kitchen, which has marble floors and countertops, custom Varenna cabinetry, Miele appliances, Franke sinks, and a separate adjoining pantry area. Behind the kitchen, a private staff quarters/office can be accessed by its own service entrance, discreetly closed off with its own en-suite bath and laundry area.

Elsewhere, the corner master suite has two spacious walk-in closets and two windowed bathrooms with custom vanities, Dornbracht fixtures, soaking tub, glass-enclosed showers, heated floors, and steam room. The flooring is rift and quartered solid oak throughout. Two additional bedrooms in a separate wing of the apartment have their own bathrooms. One of the bedrooms has been remade into a home theater/bar and lounge area. The rooms are accessed through a study/library that can be closed off for privacy, perfect for pleasure reading, work, or a board game.

The apartment was designed by top AD100 designer Mark Cunningham to maximize its corner location. Natural light streams in, and south-facing windows offer great tree-line views of the august Upper East Side. The building is located just two blocks from the 72nd Street Central Park entrance, and has all the amenities you'd expect of a top-notch Park Avenue building: a 24-hour doormen, porters and elevator attendants, and amenities like a fitness center, playroom, garden room with catering kitchen and adjoining courtyard, and bicycle/stroller storage. The entire home is equipped with a state-of-the-art home automation system designed and implemented by Kraus Hi-Tech, including sound, lighting, security, high-speed internet (with multiple routers), a full-tech stack closet, and electronic shades in every room.
