The town of New Hope, Pennsylvania—located in Bucks County, close to the state's southeastern corner—is one of the loveliest spots in the region, thanks to its expansive views of the Delaware River, and thriving arts and cultural scene.

There's a lot of history here. New Hope is near Washington Crossing Park, where George Washington famously crossed the Delaware River during the American Revolution. The park offers reenactments of the crossing and an historic village with a blacksmith's shop and boat barn. You can also hike along the Delaware Canal, which runs through the park.

One of New Hope's liveliest attractions is the New Hope Railroad, which runs vintage train trips on steam and diesel trains, taking visitors on roundtrip routes past historic houses and other vistas; there's an especially popular Santa-themed trip around the holidays.

New Hope's also home to the famed Bucks County Playhouse, a popular summer theater, in addition to a slew of art galleries befitting the many creatives who take up residence in and around town. And New Hope has a fairly good culinary scene, with eateries like the Salt House, which serves up "elevated" pub fare in a former colonial salt shop; and Nektar Wine Bar, a lovely wine and tapas spot located across the street from the Playhouse.

Then, of course, there's the real estate. You can find re-purposed farm houses dating back centuries. Consider, for instance, the three-bedroom, two-bath house at 2682 Aquetong Rd., now on the market for $875,000. The house was built in 1850 and comes paired with a stone barn, and has a charming front garden, stone porch, and facade.

The living room has hardwood floors and a built-in bookshelf. The exposed wooden beams on the ceiling are a nice vintage touch, as well.

The living room leads into the "keeping room," which has a gas fireplace.

The kitchen has exposed stone walls and rustic wooden cabinets.

And there's an attached dining/breakfast area that's lined with windows.

The main level includes a half bath.

And a laundry room with washer/dryer hookups and storage space.

There are three, light-filled bedrooms upstairs.

In addition to a walk-in closet.

There's another bath upstairs as well, this one with a shower/tub combo.

Outdoor space includes a stone patio and a green, landscaped yard.

The barn is unfinished, but it looks like you could turn it into a workspace or studio if you put some work into it.

And here's a view of the exterior.

The house is about a two-hour drive from Manhattan.
