Why are they moving? Don't ask

To be filed under Don't Waste Your Breath, broker-blogger Malcolm Carter observes that sellers' brokers rarely level with buyers who ask "Why are they moving?" On-the-record answers range from relocating, to downsizing, to procreating, to commuting.  But you won't hear the things that really matter, says Carter, such as  "They can't stand the neighbors, the place is too inconvenient, the doorman is a pervert, it's too noisy."  For the other question buyers shouldn't bother with, check out the rest of Carter's post on pointless questions buyers ask.
