Want to live large in the West Village without the commitment of buying? Take a look at this $35K/month penthouse

For most of us, this is a fantasy listing: A three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath penthouse with a terrace that's larger than a lot of New York City apartments, positioned high over the picturesque West Village and offering views of downtown and the Hudson. The rental is poised for seamless indoor/outdoor living and entertaining, meaning with summer looming, now's the time to move in—if you have $35,000 a month to spare, of course. The penthouse, listed by Citi Habitats, does have charming interior features as well, but whether it's worth dropping what's practically the equivalent of a recent grad's salary on a monthly basis is your call.

You'll enter through a foyer into the open plan living area, where glass doors to the terrace help keep the space bright. (In the winter, you'll likely make good use of that woodburning fireplace to keep things cozy.) The dining room features an unusual "hologram" chandelier (and easy conversation piece for gatherings), while the kitchen is as decked out as you'd expect of a rental at this price point; it also includes a 100-bottle wine fridge.

The master bedroom sits at the northwest corner of the apartment, benefiting from multiple exposures and direct access to the terrace. It also comes with a walk-in closet and en-suite, windowed bathroom with double sinks, a whirlpool tub, and steam shower. Across the hall, you'll find two additional bedrooms, both with ample storage space of their own, plus an additional full bath. (Though we'd venture that at $35,000 per month, each bedroom could stand to have its own bath.)

The terrace looks resort-like, with separate seating, lounging, and dining areas, landscaping, and is equipped with gas grills and speakers for outdoor parties. The apartment also features a laundry room with a washer and dryer, and can be delivered fully furnished. Building amenities include 24-hour doorman service and a landscaped garden.
