Want the very best for your beloved pooch, but can’t afford to buy in a building offering fancy amenities like the on-site doggie day care at 252 East 57th St., or pet spa at Manhattan View at MiMA, or vet services at 50 West St.?

Stop your fretting. You can still be the perfect pet parent (be sure to read Brick Underground's best advice on having a pet in New York City). And if you're going to rent here, you need to find a building that loves animals just as much as you do. Here are five one bedrooms around the city that you can rent for under $3,500 a month that will happily welcome your canine companion.

713 Washington St., #8, West Village
