Rent an apartment in Midtown for as little as $613 a month

Applications are open for 109 “affordable” apartments in a newly constructed tower in Midtown East through the city housing lottery.

The apartments are studios and one and two bedrooms at 222 East 44th St., some with views of the nearby Chrysler Building. They are set aside for households in three income bands, spanning $22,903-$135,590, with rents starting at $613, for a studio.

The rest of the apartments in the 42-story building will rent for market rates.

Each apartment in the smoke-free building is described as having a washer/dryer. Additional amenities available for a fee include an indoor pool, a sauna, indoor basketball and squash courts, a gym, an outdoor deck, a children’s playroom, a golf simulator, a dog washroom, a screening room, a tech lounge, a bike room, storage, and a residents lounge on the 41st floor with a dining room.

The building sits between Second and Third avenues, and is two blocks from Grand Central Terminal. It also is a block and a half from the United Nations and the adjacent Robert Moses Playground.
