Here are 5 NYC studio rentals for $1,800 or less if you’re ready to live on your own

If you’re paying for a New York City apartment share, like this 24-year-old Fidi renter profiled by The New York Times, who was renting a tiny, windowless bedroom for $1,300 a month, you might be glad to know that for several hundred dollars more, you can upgrade your living situation and rent a studio on your own. No more roommates.

With most New Yorkers spending a lot more time at home these days, it makes sense to look for a place with more space and amenities—and privacy. You can also find good deals right now, because there are currently lots of vacant apartments in the city and landlords are dropping rents and offering concessions like free months to get you to move in. 

There are currently 1,970 studio apartments for less than $1,800 in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens on StreetEasy. And keep in mind that not all studio apartments are alike, or even just one room—you can find studios with separate kitchens, sleeping alcoves, dressing rooms, and balconies. 

So, if you’re ready to live on your own, here are five studios for $1,800 or less including a Forest Hills studio with a bonus room and a Flatbush studio with a private balcony.
