Apply now for affordable apartments in two renovated Harlem buildings

A few more options for Harlem residents (or would-be Harlem residents) seeking affordable housing: Applications opened last week for 16 newly renovated apartments in two buildings in the neighborhood, with prices starting as low as $1,040/month, per a listing on NYC Housing Connect.

The apartments are in two buildings, one at 152 West 124th Street, the other at 70 East 127th Street, both of which have been renovated as part of a five-building neighborhood project known as TPT Homes in Harlem. These units are the second phase of project (the first phase started taking applications back in December 2014), which according to the developer, consists of buildings purchased from the city under what's known as the Third Party Transfer Program, and then completely renovated.

The apartments available are a mix of studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms, for renters with household incomes between $36,995 and $107,875, depending on apartment and family size—the full list of options and requirements is below:

The properties appear to be short on amenities, and are listed as walk-ups. As usual for this type of building, preference for half of the units will be given to current area residents, in this case of Manhattan's Community Boards 10 and 11.

If you're interested and think you qualify, you can apply online via NYC Housing Connect, or request a paper application by sending a self-addressed envelope to: TPT Homes in Harlem, 2082 Lexington Avenue, Suite 201, New York, NY 10035. The application deadine is April 19th (so move quickly), and be sure not to send in more than one application, or you could be disqualified from the running.
