The apartment used to rent for $60,000 a month, so consider this a bargain basement price. Maybe?

New York by Gehry

The 76-story tower at 8 Spruce St. is one of the more distinctive buildings downtown, thanks both to its height and its wavy facade. Designed by Frank Gehry Architects, the building contains 904 apartments, including this penthouse, personally designed by Gehry, according to the listing. The four bedroom, three-and-a-half bath offers views of both the Hudson and East rivers and comes with abundant amenities, including a private parking area.

Naturally, this all comes at an eye-popping price—the unit is listed for $33,000 a month, and that's the net effective rent with one month free, so the actual monthly expense is even higher. No, broker's fee though, so that's er, a steal?

An entry gallery leads into the common room, where curving walls of windows offer dizzying views of the river and skyline. The expansive open space leaves plenty of room for separate living and dining areas.

In the kitchen, there's room for a small dining area in front of another large window, plus abundant storage space and upscale appliances, including a wine fridge.

The master bedroom comes with a dressing area and walk-in closet that could pass for a bedroom in some less costly rentals. The en-suite bathroom has double sinks, heated marble floors, and a separate tub and walk-in shower. The other three bedrooms are similarly spacious, with their own sizable closets and two more full baths among them.

The apartment has a washer and dryer, central air and heat, and built-in audio speakers. In addition to a private parking space, it comes with access to a gym, an indoor pool, a roof deck with cabanas and grills, and a children's playroom.

The building is two blocks from the Fulton Street A, C, J, Z, 2, and 3 station, and steps from City Hall.
