This renovated brownstone duplex at 88 Pulaski St. in Bedford-Stuyvesant has been featured in Apartment Therapy and the book The New Bohemians: Cool and Collected Homes, and it has the sheepskin chairs and eclectic, DIY decoration to back it up. The owner has spent the last 13 years reshaping the place, painting the floors and scouring the city and the web for exotic finds, like carved wood closet doors.

The 1,700-square foot duplex has three bedrooms and two bathrooms and is available March 1st. Whether someone will want to move in by that time is anybody's guess, considering that the asking rent is $6,000 each month (plus broker’s fee), which is extremely steep compared to the $2,650 median rent for a three bedroom in Bedford-Stuyvesant

The broker is requesting only serious inquiries, so no gawking. Pets are not welcome, and the listing asks visitors to take their shoes off to preserve the white floors. Whether or not this description speaks to you as a prospective renter, though, the place is neat-looking:

The open kitchen has brown ceramic and pale green tiles, dark wood shelving, pale green cabinet doors, and Spanish-tiled flooring. There is a dishwasher, a double-door fridge, an industrial-grade gas stove with a vented hood, and a wine fridge.

The upstairs parlor level has 11-foot ceilings with medallions and chandeliers, and wood floors. The three bedrooms are up there.

The master bedroom features hand-carved wooden closets doors and a walk-in closet that could be a windowed office.

The central bedroom has a windowed loft bed with a library ladder to maximize space below, which can accommodate a desk and reading chair

The other street-facing bedroom has an arched double-door entry, classic pocket shutters, a custom-built full-wall shelving unit with a built-in closet, and a chalkboard wall.

The garden-level bathroom has floor-to-ceiling ceramic tiles in brown hues, a rustic wood podium sink, a fur toilet seat cover, and a mini porthole-style window. Upstairs is a subway-tiled full bathroom with a pedestal sink.

There’s also a home office tucked beneath the staircase, a designated laundry area, and a large yard.

The apartment is four blocks from both the Myrtle-Willoughby and the Bedford-Nostrand Avenue stops on the G train, and three blocks from Herbert Von King Park. Also nearby are Sugarhill, a Southern restaurant with live music, Bklyn Blend, a juice and sandwich place, The Home Depot, and the Kosciuszko Pool.
