Snag a rental at Essex Crossing on the Lower East Side for as low as $519/month

Applications are now available for 104 new rentals at 145 Clinton Street, a part of the new Essex Crossing development rising on the Lower East Side. According to the listing posted on NYC Housing Connect, the rentals are geared toward a variety of different income levels, ranging from renters making 40 percent of the Area Median Income (between $19,680 and $42,040), to those who earn all the way up to 165 percent of AMI (between $69,326 and $173,415).

Per the listing, amenities will include a part-time lobby attendant, dog wash room, and for additional fees, communal terraces, a fitness room, children's playroom, bike storage, and a resident's lounge. As is often the case with this kind of listing, preference for half the apartments will go to current neighborhood residents, in this case of Manhattan's Community Board 3. And of those reserved units, priority for half will go to former site tenants of the Seward Park Extension Urban Renewal Area (Essex crossing has details on those qualifications here).

The Essex Crossing development is a controversial project that's been years in the making (and was set back into motion by former Mayor Bloomberg, as Curbed has reported), and developers recently announced that they'd be adding more affordable apartments than originally planned.
