Applications have opened on Housing Connect for two new affordable two-bedrooms at 452 Lafayette Avenue, a brand-new development on the border of Clinton Hill and Bed-Stuy. The units are available to renters earning 60 percent of the area median income, between $32,469 and $57,240, depending on household size. See below for more information on both income requirements and available units (click to enlarge):

The property includes a roof terrace and laundry facilities, and is just a block from the Classon Avenue G train, as well as the plentiful bars and restaurants along this stretch of Lafayette. A market-rate two-bedroom in the development is currently listed for $2,350 per month and includes two balconies, though no word on whether the affordable units do, too.

As is usually the case with the affordable housing lottery, preference for half the units (so in this case, one of the apartments) goes to current residents of the neighborhood, which falls under Brooklyn Community Board 3

If you're interested and think you might qualify, you can create a profile and apply online via NYC Housing Connect, or request a paper application by mailing a self-addressed envelope to Brooklyn Suite LLC, 1650 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11233. (Don't apply more than once, or you could wind up disqualified.)

Applications are due by August 1st.
