Long Island City's new rental building, 2222 Jackson Avenue, has lots of luxury perks, like a residents lounge (with WiFi), a landscaped roof deck, and year-round indoor pool. The apartments have Bosch appliances, window walls, HVAC central air systems, and more.

While in most cases it'll cost you a pretty penny for this kind of living (a one-bedroom recently rented for $3,185, according to StreetEasy), there are 35 apartments reserved as affordable housing. They range from $850 studios to $1,274 three-bedrooms.

As always, there are income requirements, ranging from $29,143 (for a single person in a studio) to $63,060 (for families of six in a three-bedroom). But there's no broker fee or application fee, and you can apply at New York Housing Connect or by mail. To request an application by mail, send a self-addressed envelope to: 2222 Jackson Ave c/o: The Wavecrest Management Team, 87-14 116th Street, Richmond Hill, NY 11418. Only send one application per development. Do not submit duplicate applications. Applicants who submit more than one application may be disqualified (online and by-mail would be considered two applications). Applications are due by November 9, 2016.
