This three bedroom, three bath in Barrio Santa Rosa comes with a guest house and pretty desert landscaping. It's listed for $475,000, and recently had a price cut.

With winter vanquished at last, we've only got a few weeks to enjoy New York spring weather until it turns into a drippy steam bath that makes subway platforms unbearable and transforms my hair into a ball of fuzz. Coastal humidity has me dreaming of dry heat, specifically the hot desert vibes (and cacti!) you'll find in Tucson, Arizona.

This gorgeous city nestled amid mountain ranges is home to Sarah Sellers, the nurse who shocked marathoners by taking second place at the Boston Marathon earlier this month. It's also home to the spectacular Saguaro National Park, and residents make use of 350-plus days of sunshine a year, breathtaking sunsets, healthy biking infrastructure, a burgeoning restaurant scene, the University of Arizona, and lots more wildlife than you'd find in, say, Prospect Park.

And with a median home price of $177,400, Tucson's a lot more affordable than what you'll find here in subway swampland. If you're willing to spend more than that, you can score a Pueblo-Revival-style mansion in a gated golf resort community, the dream of some who would like to retire but for that pesky Brooklyn rent.

If any of that sounds appealing to you, read on for an idea of what's for sale out there.
