Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is frequently listed among the nation's top cities for millennials, and for good reason. The former steel capital and birthplace of Andy Warhol has a relatively low cost of living, good public schools, world-class academic and research institutions like Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh, world-class museums (including the Warhol), and a thriving art, nightlife, and music scene.

It's about an hour's flight from both New York and Washington, D.C., and has a median home listing price of $219,900, making it one of the most affordable housing markets in the country. That market is expected to climb exponentially over the next few years, so if the Steelers are calling your name, and Pitt's calling you with a job, there's no reason to say no. Here's a taste of what's out there.

Other highlights include a carriage house with an au-pair suite, a gorgeous butler staircase, and elegant chandeliers throughout. The Squirrel Hill neighborhood is one of the most popular in Pittsburgh, thanks in part to its proximity to both Carnegie Mellon and Chatham universities. The house is listed for $1,675,000.

Pittsburgh's South Side is a pretty popping nightlife spot, thanks to the slew of bars, eateries, and other hotspots located along East Carson, the neighborhood's main drag. Though South Side Slopes has long been the more popular residential spot in the area, South Side Flats has started to become popular with younger buyers. This two-bedroom, three-bath loft-style house is located just one block from East Carson, and features a number of industrial-style touches, including a garage-door facade, cork floors, exposed pipes, metal-paneled ceilings, and lofted living nooks. This house is asking $529,000.

It is seeking for $629,999.
