Scarsdale, New York is considered one of the best places to raise a family in Westchester County and one of the wealthiest towns on the East Coast, making it a good place to consider if you’re looking to move your family to an affluent suburb with a quick commute to New York City.

The town is just 25 miles north of the city and its Metro North train station is one of the many local buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. For shopping, there are boutiques like Mixology, La Dentelliere, and Pookie and Sebastian plus chain stores like HomeGoods, ShopRite, and Barnes & Noble. For dining, you can check out Sapori, The 808 Bistro, and Jewel of Himalaya. And, there are several small parks and golf clubs such as Bronx River Park, Wynmor Park, and Saxon Woods Golf Course.

You’ll pay more for a house in Scarsdale than you will in other NYC suburbs. The median sales price is $1,130,000 according to Redfin, and here, you’ll find a variety of Colonials, Tudors, and estate-like homes, both old and new. Most houses currently on the market have yards, fireplaces, full basements, room for a home office, and garages.
