Bedford, New York, a small town in Westchester County, is known for attracting the rich and famous like Martha Stewart, Glenn Close, and Bruce Willis—making it one of the wealthiest areas in the U.S. with a bunch of multi-million dollar estates.

But there’s down-to-earth real estate here too, with more privacy than you usually find, since many houses in Bedford have more land than other suburbs. And it’s also only an hour away from New York City.

The town is known for its laid-back country vibe, horse farms, and quaint downtown and comprises four hamlets, Bedford, Bedford Hills, Bedford Corners, and Katonah. Throughout the area, you’ll find local stores and eateries like Lucia, Bedford Village Pastry, Truck, and GE Brown Fine Food & Provisions. And, if you want to get some fresh air, you can head to Bedford Village Memorial Park, Guard Hill Preserve, and Bedford Golf & Tennis Club. To top if off, Niche considers it to be one of the best places to live in New York with an A rating.

When it comes to real estate, the median sales price is currently $955,000, according to Redfin and you find property types such as Capes, Colonials, and farmhouses.
