If you’re getting a late start on your summer plans because you were waiting to see what would be open, you might want to consider a stay down on the Jersey Shore. The 130-mile coastline has 40 different towns with sandy beaches, boardwalks, and locally-owned restaurants.

Jersey beaches are expected to open in phases this season, although you might not get to swim until July. At least many of the iconic restaurants and ice cream shops are open for takeout and delivery. It's a good option for city dwellers who want some sun and fresh ocean air, since the city’s beaches are still closed and Long Island beaches are mostly opening for locals only.

When it comes to rentals here, you’ll find that owners typically have a minimum stay and many rentals are already booked for the majority of the season. But, you can still find a mix of rentals available by the week or month at a range of prices, depending on which beachside town you’re interested in.

So, if you want to escape to the shore this summer, check out these rentals still available through Labor Day in Wildwood, Spring Lake, Ocean City, Avon by the Sea, and Lavallete.
