White Plains, New York is a quick Metro North-ride from Manhattan and has parks, golf clubs, well-rated public schools, and its own downtown area—it’s where Westchester County government buildings are located and there are several malls with upscale stores—making it ideal if you’re ready for suburban life with some city-like amenities.

The area’s real estate is more affordable compared to NYC: The median sales price is $633,700, according to Zillow. Many houses in the area are in tree-lined subdivisions and have amenities that fit the Covid-era like large, private backyards and space for a home office. You can probably get a deal, too, because many houses on the market have recent price cuts.

There’s a fair amount of things to do in White Plains too. If you want to spend more time outdoors, you can head to Saxon Woods Park, hike the White Plains Greenway Trail, or golf at Westchester Hills Golf Club, one of several clubs. You’ll find lots of national retailers and restaurants at malls like the Galleria White Plains and The Westchester.

If living in White Plains is appealing to you, here are five houses currently on the market, including several with recent price cuts.
