For country house seekers looking for a place that feels like the polar opposite of New York City, this 230-acre farm in Hartwick, New York has a surfeit of wide-open spaces for less than the median price of a Manhattan apartment—$1.16 million, according to StreetEasy, compared to the spread's asking price of $995,000.

The farm is about three and a half hours' drive from the city in Otsego County, centered around an old stone farmhouse with four bedrooms and two bathrooms, as well as a 1910 barn that has been retrofitted as a children's playhouse. There's also a late 19th century barn on the property.

Other cool features include: A chicken coop, a wine cellar, an apple orchard, ponds, and access to a creek.

The large chef’s kitchen has been been equipped with retro appliances and, for cooks who enjoy a challenge, an English wood cook-stove.

Yeah, that's the stuff.

The house has been updated with a new roof, radiant heat, and revolving solar panels, according to the listing.

The estate is a 15-minute drive from the Baseball Hall of Fame and Ommegang Brewery in Cooperstown.

The current owners are Crank director Mark Leveldine and actor Alison Lohman.

The drive time is substantial, but keep in mind that the trip out to the Hamptons can easily take just as long in summer traffic.
