Jersey Week

A picture-perfect house in New Jersey's most prestigious town

For the last day of Jersey Week here at Brick, we thought we'd focus on a town with some serious prestige. Thanks to the Ivy League university that bears its name, Princeton, New Jersey is a bustling college town with lots of restaurants, shops and nightlife spots. Good for those New Yorkers who want to relocate to the suburbs but also want to avoid suburban sprawl.

What's really sold us on this five-bedroom, two-and-half-bathroom house is what's on the outside — lush and spacious back and front yards. The backyard has a large grassy space in addition to a deck and a patio. We could handle spending a good portion of the summer out there.

The house itself has new siding, new windows, new fencing and hardwood floors.

There's a living room, dining room and family room, which has a granite fireplace surrounded by built-ins and a wet bar. While you may want to update the kitchen a tad, it's already got the stainless appliances in place.

In addition to the entertaining rooms, an office, main laundry and updated half bathroom are near the entrance of a two-car garage on the main floor, and upstairs on the second floor, are five bedrooms (the master has a en-suite bathroom with a new glass shower).

The basement has been finished and used for media and exercise spaces.

Princeton is about 55 miles from the city and 60 minutes on New Jersey Transit train to Penn Station.

Oh, and at $580,000 it's less than the price of a one-bedroom co-op in Manhattan.
