Not everyone needs a townhouse with a serious chef's kitchen, but if you do, 417 18th St. in the South Slope/Windsor Terrace area of Brooklyn would be worth a look.

Listed for $1,495,000, the townhouse is a three bedroom, two bath with a finished basement. (Looks like the rec room area is being counted as a bedroom. The listing also says the townhouse is a two-family, which might also be taking that basement into account. Even if the certificate of occupancy for the building says it is a two-family, there's appears to be only one kitchen on the floor plan. Long story short: In its current form, there's no rental to help with your mortgage payment.)

But if that's not a deal-breaker, this place has a lot to offer, including southern exposure, high ceilings, and dark-stained hardwood floors.

The parlor floor has an open plan living and dining area, the latter has a convenient wine fridge for chilling beverages.

The kitchen is equipped with some serious appliances: A double-door Viking refrigerator; a six-burner, 36-inch Viking range with two ovens and griddle; a dishwasher. The space also features lots of granite countertops, cabinet space, and leads to a 55-foot-deep fenced yard.

The master bedroom has seven-foot-high double windows and a walk-in closet that is now being used as a nursery.

The second bedroom has a custom-designed closet.

The cental bathroom on the second floor (note there isn't one on the first level) has a skylight, whirlpool spa bath and separate shower.

The nicely-finished basement has large, double front windows and a separate entrance, as well as a full bath.

A laundry area provides room for folding and storage.

The townhouse features high efficiency air conditioning, a water filtration system, and security system; the mechanicals are said to be in good shape as well.

The yard is landscaped with realistic-looking faux turf. At the far end of the lot is a bluestone patio with a pergola with seating.

Located on a tree-lined street, the townhouse is also overlooking the Prospect Expressway (which might partially explain a recent $200,000 price cut). For what it's worth, this is an area with some of the best on-street parking in Brooklyn.) No car? The F and G trains are nearby at at 15th Street/Prospect Park and the area is well-served by buses on Seventh Avenue. Prospect Park is close by, and dining and shopping can be found along Seventh Avenue, Prospect Park West, and beyond.
