The median price of condos in Brooklyn has climbed to $888,000, a nine percent increase from this time last year, making this the 20th consecutive month of Brooklyn price increases, according to one of the latest Douglas Elliman market reports.
So what do you get for that price? In Williamsburg, as you might imagine, not a tremendous amount of space, but this studio loft condo at 156 Broadway is nevertheless intriguing. Listed by Corcoran for $889,000, the apartment is in a 1920 factory building converted to condos in 2014.
The unit blends prewar details like exposed brick with contemporary features such as central air and a wireless lighting system. Another plus: The building is a quick walk to the Marcy Avenue J, M, and Z stop, so you won't have to deal with the looming L train shutdown.
The condo's 16-foot ceilings allow for a dramatic wall of windows that illuminate the space, and there are motorized shades for when you don't want so much sunlight. The ceilings also fit towering shelves, for the bookworms out there. The living room opens onto a terrace with room for seating, and the open kitchen is outfitted with a subway tile backsplash, high-end appliances, and decent storage space.
Stairs lead to a mezzanine that can be configured as a sleeping area, making the apartment feel roomier than the typical studio. A sleek en-suite bathroom and closet in this space adds to the appeal. There's an additional full bath downstairs, as well.
