The bay windows are big, but they face north.

This week's pick is not the most pristine apartment we've ever seen (the radiators look a little rough, for example), but you get a lot of space and decent light in this two bedroom, one bath in Washington Heights.

On the market for $525,000 with $671 maintenance, 544 W. 157th St. #21 is an HDFC co-op, with buyers restricted to incomes of $275,125 or less if they have two or fewer dependents. It's advertised as "European-feeling," with bay windows, a Juliet balcony and ironwork.

The apartment also features refinished oak floors, an eat-in kitchen (no image of that), and a bathroom in classic black-and-white tile. The marble lobby looks quite grand.

Perks include laundry in the building, a bike room, and two subway lines nearby: the 1 train at 157th Street is a short walk across Broadway, and the C train stop at 155th Street is four blocks away.

For a household with three or more dependents the annual household earnings can be up to $320,979.

Maintenance is $671 a month.
