The ceilings are nearly 14 feet tall.

It looks a bit like a downtown loft, with exposed brick and 14-foot ceilings, but this studio is at 138-140 West 124th St. in Harlem.

The apartment also has two walk-in closets, in-unit laundry, and a built-in Murphy bed. It’s listed for $799,000.

The living space is airy and bright, with light-colored hardwood floors and an entire wall of full-height windows. Distinctive brick barrel-vaulted ceilings draw the eye upwards the moment you walk in, making the room appear taller than it is. Stacks of built-in cabinets provide more storage than most studio dwellers will probably ever need, especially since these are in addition to walk-in closets near the bathroom and off the living room. The cabinets also contain the aforementioned Murphy bed.

The wood floors extend into the pristine kitchen, which has white marble countertops, a stainless steel Viking oven, a Sub-Zero fridge, a dishwasher, and plenty of drawers and cupboards. The counters extend to a breakfast bar where you can sit to sip your morning coffee beneath a pair of slim pendant lights.

It's not quite as dazzling as the kitchen, but the bathroom’s pretty nice, too, with distinctive gray tiles on the walls and side of the tub. The wooden, wall-hung vanity seems unsuited to the space—a paler piece might work better in here—but it can easily be replaced. The dark floors also seem a bit out of place, but they look to be in good shape, so it might be easier to just keep them.

The apartment is in Loft 124, a boutique condo building housed in a onetime warehouse for the Koch Department Store on 125th Street. Residents have access to a common roof deck, a gym, bike storage, and a virtual doorman. Common charges are $723 a month.

The building is a block from the 125th Street 2 and 3 station.
