If you are looking to buy, your experience riding out the coronavirus pandemic in a New York City apartment may have you convinced it's time to commit to a house with a yard, where more space and privacy can make social distancing easier.

Of course you don't necessarily need to head to the suburbs—you can find houses with generous outdoor space in parts of the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island. You’ll have more room to work from home and for online school (if that's still happening in September) and you won’t have to share an elevator or amenity space with others like you do in an apartment building. Plus, your commute to Manhattan (if that's still a thing) may be shorter than a ride from the burbs.

So if you’re in the market for a house with the feel of the suburbs within the five boroughs, check out these houses for sale in Todt Hill, Riverdale, Jamaica Estates, Bay Ridge, and Forest Hills.
