Live at the crossroads of Brooklyn in a borough landmark

This two-bedroom condo is inside a Brooklyn icon: The former Williamsburgh Savings Bank Tower, a Byzantine-Romanesque property built in 1927 at the intersection of Atlantic and Fourth Avenues in Fort Greene. The building was converted to condominiums in 2007; in addition to direct access to the Atlantic Terminal, residents enjoy a host of amenities and updated interiors. From this high-floor loft, you'll get impressive views of the New York harbor, but perhaps due to the landmark status, its price is on the higher end for the neighborhood. Listed by RealDirect for $1.89 million, the apartment's cost is what you might encounter for large two-bedrooms in prime Manhattan neighborhoods like the Upper West Side.

The living room features two west-facing windows--expect impressive views of the sunset over Brooklyn--dark, chestnut wood floors, and high ceilings. Cutaways in the wall allow for little storage nooks to display art and knickknacks. There's space for a dining room table, and the open kitchen includes a breakfast bar for additional seating; it's also outfitted with glossy, lacquered cabinetry, upscale appliances, and what looks like a sizeable pantry.

The master suite has two closets, one of them a walk-in, as well as access to a full bathroom with a double vanity, soaking tub, and a separate rain shower.

The second bedroom is a bit narrower and, with only one window, may not be as well-lit as the master, but also includes a big closet and its own full bath.

The floorplan reveals a small, additional room on the other side of the apartment that could make a good home office, nursery, or guest room, but note that it lacks windows. There's also a washer and dryer, and owners have access to a separate storage space along with the unit. As for amenities, there is full-time doorman and concierge service, a children's playroom, gym, and several shared outdoor spaces, including a roof deck.
