With a space-saving Murphy bed, a large kitchen with high-end appliances, and a dressing area just outside the bathroom, this $499,000 first-floor studio on Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights has a lot going for it.

The living/sleeping area is sunny and bright, with a picture window overlooking the building’s garden, and the aforementioned custom wall bed, which can be tucked away when company comes over.

Space is definitely tight, but there’s still room for a decent-sized TV area with a couch and a chair (as it’s currently set up). The room also features the apartment’s original hardwood floors, which, according to the listing, have been refinished. However, the abundance of rugs throughout makes us wonder if they’re still not in the best of shape.

The kitchen looks fresh, clean and surprisingly spacious, with nice appliances, including a built-in Blomberg refrigerator and dishwasher that blend into the room with panels that match the cabinets, and a modern-looking stainless steel Haier convection oven. There’s also an oversized sink, lots of storage space (especially for a unit of this size), a marble backsplash, and durable quartz countertops.

Completing the space is an elongated counter, which can be used as a breakfast bar or dining area.

Also somewhat roomy for a studio is the bathroom, which was recently renovated and expanded. It offers a deep soaking tub, a dual-flush toilet and a contemporary floating vanity. The room as a whole is overwhelmingly white, but the bronze-hued porcelain tiles on the floor add a small splash of color and personality.

The dressing area just outside the bathroom features a large master closet organized with elfa, a modular shelving and drawer system. While that should make it easier for the apartment’s resident to organize his or her clothes based on size or season, he or she should take note that this seems to be the only closet in the entire unit, which could be a deal-breaker.

This apartment is housed in the Breukelen, a full-service co-op building with a 24-hour doorman, storage, a gym, a bike room, and a roof deck with views of the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge Park. The board accepts 10 percent down and allows subletting after two years of residence. Maintenance is a low $368 a month.
