In the Brooklyn townhouse market, the days of finding quaint-but-crumbling fixer-uppers at a steep discount are largely over. But on the flip side, you're more likely to find fully renovated options that contain their old world charm, but with the addition of up-to-the-minute conveniences.

Such is the case with 417 Sackett Street, a five-bedroom, four-bath brick townhouse on offer in Carroll Gardens for an asking price of $4.495 million. The parlor level features a living room with high ceilings and a remote-controlled gas fireplace that leads into the open kitchen, complete with a pantry. The kitchen also opens onto an outdoor terrace that overlooks the home's fully finished backyard garden (pictured up top):

On the upper level, you'll find the bedrooms (including a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and walk-in closet), as well as a laundry room, though there's also a washer and dryer in the basement. The wooden finishes and cabinets give a charming old-school touch to the updated bathrooms:

As far as your bottom line, the home isn't too likely to need expensive repairs soon: The facade has been repointed and sealed, and the listing notes that the roof, mechanicals, A/C, and plumbing are all "well maintained." Additionally, the house is outfitted with FIOS service as well as up-to-date electricals, including extra outlets and dimmer switches. All in all, not a bad option for a family in search of a home that's more "move-in-ready" than "money pit."
