Small Wonder

For a studio that doesn't give off a "starter apartment" vibe, consider this Manhattan Valley co-op

For a spacious studio that feels a little more adult than your average "starter apartment," who says you have to move deep into the outer boroughs? Consider this 550-square-foot co-op at Manhattan Valley's 200 West 108th Street asking $549,000; it's large enough to throw an actual holiday party, but could also be artfully divided to create separate entertaining and sleeping spaces.

The light, windowed kitchen looks like an ideal mix between a galley kitchen and an open layout—guests won't see a sink full of dishes, but you can chat and sip wine while you're at the counter chopping, particularly with the handy breakfast bar seating. There's also plenty of cabinet space, a dishwasher, and a built-in microwave.

The listing also offers views of the apartment unfurnished if you'd prefer a blank canvas to plan potential layout and decor.

The bathroom has a window, which is a nice touch, though we're not quite sure what the listing means by describing it as "Hamptons inspired"—perhaps something to do with the white cabinetry and wood-patterned floors?

In any case, the newly renovated apartment also features grey hardwood floors, restored steel crown molding, and "Edison inspired vintage light fixtures."

The building itself has a part-time doorman on staff from 3 pm to 7 am, a bike room, and a live-in super. (Pets are allowed, too.) Plus, even though it's a co-op, the listing notes that this is a sponsor sale, which means potential buyers can bypass the hassle of a board interview.
