Forget the snow and start planning your summer in Atlantic Beach

We think we're going to get through this cold and snowy weekend by daydreaming about long summer days. And wouldn't it be lovely to know you were going to be spending those days in this newly rebuilt three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath house in Atlantic Beach?

While Atlantic Beach—which happens to be just 25 miles from New York City—has plenty of beach clubs that cater to day-trippers, you can't beat having your very own beach house to sleep in after a day in the sun and surf.

This getaway has a sleek eat-in kitchen, a master bathroom with a jacuzzi bath (perfect for unwinding after a day at the beach), and a cute little backyard for summer barbecues. To be honest, though, we think we'd extend those to spring and fall barbecues, too.

The best part of all: It's about a block from the beach. And at $679,000, it costs less than the average Manhattan one-bedroom.

But one word of caution: Buy this house and you expect a lot of long-lost friends city friends to come out of the woodwork.
