There’s something about woodwork that makes a home feel at once sophisticated and warm and cozy—perfect for these cooler months.

These NYC homes all have wood accents galore: intricate floors, decorative moldings, vast paneling on walls, exposed beams, a solid banister on a grand staircase, all of which make them the perfect places to retreat to on a fall or winter day.

There’s plenty of dark wood throughout this limestone mansion at 106 Eighth Avenue in Park Slope (on the market for $9.850 million), but this dining room, with its intricate inlaid wood floor, columned fireplace, mantel and ceiling and elaborate paneled walls—decorated with hand painted vistas—takes the cake.

From the floor to walls to ceiling accents, the foyer of this Upper West Side limestone at 64 West 87th Street (yours for $12.75 million) is a vision in oak, including fully restored parquet floors, wainscot, mantel and moldings that were all original to the home when it was built in 1884.

Who says you have to sacrifice a love of woodwork to live in a modern, glass skyscraper? This three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bath condo in the 68-story Trump Tower at 721 Fifth Avenue (priced at $18 million) includes a gallery from the foyer to the living room lined in burnished koa wood (a flowering tree native to Hawaii) paneling and wainscoting

This two-unit, five-story townhouse at 320 West 80th Street (priced at $14 million) features original wood paneling, pocket doors, floors and beams, but the centerpiece of the home is this winding, wood-accented staircase that runs from the first-floor foyer to the first-floor bedroom and sky-lit studio.
