Own a piece of Mafia history in New Jersey—but be prepared to renovate

Still missing The Sopranos? This waterfront Fort Lee, New Jersey mansion will help you channel Tony—or inner real housewife of New Jersey, for that matter. The house, which will hit the auction block on December 8 with a minimum price of $5.5 million, has views of Manhattan and sits on a bucolic, secluded 1.3 acres. The driveway alone is impressive.

The view.

And consider the provenance: It's been the home of comedian Buddy Hackett and is currently owned by 90-year-old Arthur Imperatore, the founder of the New York Waterway ferry system.

But the seven-bedroom, Mediterranean-style mansion, with large rooms and sweeping views of the Hudson in many of them, was built in the late 1940s by Albert Anastasia, the cold-blooded head of the New York City mob’s Murder Inc. (He didn't get to live in it long since he was shot and killed at a barbershop in the Park Sheraton hotel in the late 1950s.)

The stucco mansion at 75 Bluff Road has a pool with adjacent pool house, but as you can see from the pic below, the interiors need a lot of work.

If only those (soon to be renovated) walls could talk. Or maybe it's best to leave well enough alone.
