Recent market reports have pegged Manhattan's median price at $998,000, barely skirting the million-dollar mark. We hear this price point is one of the toughest for buyers to navigate—too much competition! not enough inventory—so we thought we'd do some scouring for you. These properties are hosting open houses this weekend.

330 Third Avenue, Apartment 11G, Kips Bay. Talk about on the nose: This one-bedroom, one-bath, converted from a junior-four, is in a building that allows for parental purchase, pieds-a-terre, and dogs up to 40 pounds. Asking price: $998,000. Open house: Sunday, October 4, 2:30 pm to 4 pm.

1878 Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard, Apartment 1, Central Harlem. Four bedrooms and two-and-a-half-baths aren't usually gettable for under a million, but this HDFC co-op—set to become market rate in six years—packs a lot right now in an affordable package. Asking price: $995,000. Open house: Sunday, October 4, 12:30 pm to 2 pm.

128 Central Park South, Apartment 11C, Midtown. This one-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath is in a pet-friendly co-op steps from Central Park and Carnegie Hall, and has a woodburning fireplace with a hand-carved mantel. Asking price: $965,000. Open house: Sunday, October 4, 12:30 pm to 2 pm.

189 Avenue C, Apartment 6E, East Village. This one-bedroom, one-bath measures 755 square feet, and is in a condo with a virtual doorman and fitness center. Asking price: $950,000. Open house: Sunday, October 4, 12 noon to 1:30 pm.
