This $749,000 three-bedroom, two-and-half-bath Victorian-style home in Rockland County has views of the Hudson River from every room. And it's a good choice for NYC expats who want to hold onto a bit of culture and stay close to the city—we're talking about 30 minutes on a good traffic day.

A view from the bedroom.

The master bedroom.

The house, located at 36 Hester Street in Piermont, New York, has a front porch, a terrace off the dining area, and a balcony off the master bedroom. The master bedroom has vaulted ceilings, and the master bath has an extra-long Jacuzzi bath, separate steam shower, warm air blower from the floor (genius for cold days!) and double sinks. There's a four-car driveway with electric heating below.

The house was built in 1894, but renovated in 1990.

Tons of prep space in the kitchen, which has Viking, Subzero and Bosch appliances.

The town of Piermont, which is within walking distance, has quite a few restaurants and cultural hotspots, too, like the musical venue The Turning PointArt Students League at Vyt, which is on the border of Piermont and Sparkill, is the artist- in-residence location and northern satellite of the storied NYC art school on West 57th Street. They've got a monthly open house where artists show their work.

There are no direct trains to Piermont, though the George Washington Bridge is about 12 miles away. If you want to take the train to the city, you have to drive (or take a bus) to Tarrytown and hop on it from there. There are also buses from Piermont that take about an hour to get to Port Authority.
