Need some alone time? Check out this cute Jersey shore cottage

Sure, a multi-bedroom share house "down the shore" sounds kind of fun. But honestly, sometimes we like a little alone time on our vacations. That's why this quaint one-bedroom cottage in Ocean Grove, on the Jersey Shore, caught our eye. It's petite compared to many vacation rentals, but let's be honest—in New York City, it would be considered generously sized.

It's available for about $140 a night, with a minimum four-night stay. And quite a few nights are still available in July and August.

How cute is this kitchen? And who really needs more than two bar stools and a counter when you're on vacation (and near such good food in nearby Asbury Park)?

The most important thing to us in this floorplan — the fairly generously sized porch.

The cottage is also walking distance to Asbury Park, which is full of cool restaurants, bars — the Stone Pony, for instance — and shops, plus a great boardwalk and beach. You won't want for entertainment since Asbury Park also hosts plenty of concerts in the summer, and there are movies on the beach, and more. Or you could just sit on the porch all day. (We would.)

History buffs will get a kick out of Ocean Grove: It was founded in 1869 as Christian summer camp meeting site; the land is still owned by the camp meeting association, and leased to individual homeowners and businesses. Note: The beach is closed every Sunday morning (so you can go to church, of course), and the area is dry, so if you want to drink — or sunbathe before noon on Sunday — you'll have to make your way to Asbury Park.
