Forty-two affordable apartments in the Bronx start taking applications tomorrow (July 2nd), with rents starting as low as $655/month, according to a listing on NYC Housing Connect.

The rentals are part of the Arthur Avenue Apartments at 600 East 181st Street in East Tremont, a development that includes both low-income and homeless housing. There are 27 studios available for $655/month; eight one-bedrooms available for $847/month; five two-bedrooms for $1,024/month; and two three-bedrooms for $1,176/month; for renters with household incomes ranging from $23,829 to $60,120, depending on apartment and family size. (Check out the full list of available apartments and requirements here.)

Building amenities include 24-hour security, coin-operated laundry, a fitness room, computer lab, and rooftop and ground-level gardens, all for no extra charges. Per usual with this type of affordable rental, preference for half the apartments goes to local residents, in this case of Bronx Community Board 6 (you can check its boundaries here to see if you're a resident).

If you're interested in applying and think you may qualify, brush up on our application tips here, then apply either online via NYC Housing Connect, or request a paper application by sending a postcard or self-addressed envelope to Arthur Avenue Apartments, c/o Common Ground, P.O. Box 3620937, New York, NY 10129. Only send in one application (duplicates may get you disqualified), and be sure to get your materials in by the September 3rd deadline.
