With Marie Kondo topping every bestseller list and spring cleaning season rounding the corner, you may be side-eyeing your jam-packed closet and wondering if it’s finally time for an all-out purge.

Luckily, Apartment Therapy has rounded up some of their best advice for the closet clean-out, from the right questions to ask (does this shirt match at least three other items I own?) to the right way to do a deep clean (and yes, it does involve a vacuum).

One of our favorite tips comes from a reader, who suggests not doing laundry for a month--until you really get to the dregs of your wardrobe--and then tossing out anything you still haven’t worn. Another good piece of advice? Get creative with storage systems: use bins, shelves, stackable laundry hampers, even an umbrella holder to make ongoing organization effortless.

It’s a lot of information to take in, but hey, at least it’s something to read while you procrastinate cleaning out your closet.
