Sleep easy in this $4,475/month studio—on a bed that retracts from the ceiling

When you hear that an apartment is furnished, you typically don't assume the furnishings include a four-poster bed that descends from the ceiling at the push of a button, and then folds up to reveal built-in lighting for a seating area below. But that is one of the features of this Lenox Hill studio, available for $4,475 a month (down from an even steeper $4,650 about a month ago).

Other perks include a gas fireplace, built-in day bed, 100-square-foot terrace overlooking surrounding townhouse gardens, large walk-in closet, and one of the most suburban-style kitchens we've seen in a studio yet (and we mean that in a good way).

Formerly a one-bedroom, according to the listing, the owners opted for an open plan layout without a separate bedroom--which makes for a spacious living area, but little privacy for sleeping.

Other cons: You'll have to climb three floors to get to this walk-up, at 14 East 64th Street between Fifth and Madison, and the price tag is high for the neighborhood. The median price of studios in the area is $2,500, according to StreetEasy, which may explain why this place has lingered on the market for nearly three months. (It's also been on sale, off and on, since 2010, at prices ranging from $1.1 million to $745,000.)

See the overhead lights? They're built in to the bottom of the bed. Thanks to the remote control and adjustable height, we imagine you'd be more likely to put this away in the daytime, versus something like a Murphy bed.

The marble bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub and, maybe the best part, a closet with a washer/dryer--especially helpful since there's no elevator in the building.

The building is a four-floor, 10-apartment pre-war co-op on a tree-lined street. Plus, cats and small dogs are allowed.
