7 New York townhouses with serious curb appeal

Something about the wintertime makes us covet townhouses even more than usual. There's the coziness factor (many have fireplaces, after all), and we'd imagine that cabin fever would take longer to set in if we had multiple floors to hang out on.

If you want a classic feel (a la Edith Wharton's New York), we recommend this three-bedroom, three-bathroom 1800s home in Greenwich Village. It's a little small for a house in New York, but that explains it's relatively little price tag of $5.25 million (we said relative, people).

On the other end of the spectrum is a brand-new Upper East Side limestone townhouse that was designed to fit in with the older houses surrounding it. It's got five bedrooms and an elevator and a price tag to match: $14.85 million.

This Upper West Side five-floor house located on 70th Street between Central Park West and Columbus also has an elevator. And while it's not new, it's been rebuilt since 1891, when it was built. It'll cost you $17.9 million.

It's every New York driver's dream: A house with its very own parking space. This $9.2 million townhouse, located on West 10th Street, has four bedrooms, six skylights and a private landscaped garden.

It's back to the Upper West Side for this $6.99 million four-story brownstone, which has four original fireplaces and four skylights. Original details remain throughout the Renaissance Revival-style house.

This $2 million Carroll Gardens townhouse needs some TLC inside, but it's perfectly pretty on the outside. It's currently configured as a two-family home, but could be converted. And Carroll Gardens is just the perfect Brooklyn neighborhood to indulge your brownstone fantasies, we think.
