Lounge poolside at these 6 New York buildings

There are a lot of fancy amenities out there we could live without—virtual golf rooms, we're looking at you—but we're convinced that having a pool right in your apartment building would be nothing short of life changing. The daily exercise benefits would be great, sure, but what about the lounging? That, and having the ultimate trump card when trying to convince your friends to come over, instead of the other way around? As such, we've rounded up a few of our favorite residential buildings in the city where you can not only get in shape, but lose an afternoon kicking back with a stack of magazines beside the pool. Looks pretty ideal right about now....

On the seventh floor of New York by Gehry in the Financial District, you'll find a 50-foot pool with an attached sun deck, as well as a "spa suite" with rooms for private treatments.

The 75-foot pool in Tribeca's 30 Park Place, which is under construction, will include attached steam rooms and access to a Four Seasons spa.

The aptly-named Waterside Plaza in Kips Bay includes a large pool surrounded by windows (and plants and lounge chairs), and offers classes for both adults and children. Naturally, there's a sauna on-site, too.

At 515 East 72nd street, the pool area (or "aquatic center," if you prefer) includes lanes for the lap swimmers, two hot tubs, lounge chairs, and floor-to-ceiling windows that open directly onto an outdoor terrace.

The spacious, heated outdoor pool at Roosevelt Island's green building the Octagon is also surrounded by spots to kick back and soak up a little sun before winter sets in.
