The StreetEasy Hot Dozen: 12 rentals that may or may not be available by the time you read this
Looking at the rental prices of Manhattan apartments is usually the most painful part of apartment hunting, but several apartments on this week's Hot Dozen--the 12 apartments Streeteasy.com visitors clicked on most often over the past seven days--are surprisingly affordable.
Take the ground floor studio on 246 East 77th Street and Second Avenue that's listed at $822/month. Yes, you read that right. Your own apartment, with a live-in super, elevator, and on-site laundry, I might add, for only $822/month. The only catch (besides, potentially, the apartment itself, which we can't see due to the lack of interior photos) is that you must earn between $27,360 - $35,160 yearly to qualify for this income-restricted apartment. But it's on the middle of the Upper East Side and less than $900. Sounds like a deal to me.
A junior one-bedroom apartment at 221 West 28th Street and Seventh Avenue is listed at $1,750/month, which isn't the greatest deal in the world, but the apartment is rent stabilized, which makes renewing your lease less of a cliffhanger rent-wise. Located steps from the 1 train, the apartment also has a full eat-in kitchen and ample windows, though the flooring looks a bit on the funky side.
A spiffy two-bedroom apartment at 4455 Broadway and West 190th Street is listed at $1,475. This spacious apartment is at the very northern tip of the island of Manhattan, but provides luxury living in a brand new, elevator building, that's also no-fee. Two subway stops (the 1 and A) are close, but that won't take much time off the hefty commute from Upper Manhattan.
