StreetEasy’s Most Wanted: Let there be light — for under a million bucks

Looking for a sunny space in Manhattan for under $1 million? Who isn’t?

New Yorkers are hungry for sunshine to break through the skyscrapers, and when it graces the walls of their homes, it’s even better. Fortunately, this week’s Most Wanted round-up — the 10 abodes StreetEasy users saved more frequently than any others — features apartments with tons of windows and six-digit price tags.

On the Upper West Side, a two-bedroom co-op on West 74th Street between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues rings in at $875,000. The space has an oversized kitchen window that faces east, flooding the apartment with natural light. The living/dining room has north facing windows, and the master bedroom is a corner room with double exposures. The unit has been renovated and is move-in ready, so as the listing says, you can grab your “toothbrush and move right in.” Plus, it’s close to an express subway and only a couple blocks from Central Park.

At around half the monthly maintenance cost ($878/month) in Brooklyn, a two-bedroom co-op on 7th Avenue between St. John’s Place and Lincoln Place being offered for $599,000 (pictured at left) is also move-in ready. The sunny unit’s bedrooms overlook the gardens of St. John’s Place, and there’s a washer/dryer in the apartment. The renovated kitchen, updated bathroom and wood-burning fireplace also add to the four-room apartment’s appeal. The catch? It's a third floor walk-up.

Just making the below-$1m cut, up on 67th Street between Lexington and Third Avenues, $999,000 will get you a postwar16th floor two-bedroom co-op with open south and east exposures and windows in every room. There's even more light on the south-facing terrace. Added bonus: A 'discounted' garage is said to be just across the street.
