There is not a huge supply of moderately priced pre-war apartments with new high-end renovations, so this unit caught our eye. As the pictures on the building's swanky website show, apartments at the Greystone (212 West 91st Street between Amsterdam and Columbus) have walnut hardwood floors, beamed ceilings, individually controlled heating and A/C, and high-end kitchens. The doorman elevator building has a gym, live-in super, very attractive roof deck and (for an added price, we presume) "valet" services that include housekeeping and someone to wash, dry and fold your clothes. While the living space is a bit small, the bedrooms are both a decent size. This two-bedroom, two-bathrooom unit is listed for $3,963, and allows pets and shares.

No-Fee Apartment of the Week is writer A. Ready's weekly independent selection of a no-fee rental that she believes reflects good value given current market conditions. It is not an advertisement, nor is it paid for by any company/website mentioned.
