Ever wonder what your neighbors are bitching about?

As reported by Gothamist, New York City has taken its 311 complaint line to a new level, and has produced an on-line interactive map that is updated within 24 hours to show all open complaints, as well as those filed within the last five days. The complaints fall within 15 categories, which range from air and water quality, animals, property and buildings, to even trees. Beware, apartment dwellers: One complaint category is tenants, so landlords have their venue for reporting as well.

A quick glance at the complaint map shows that the people in some neighborhoods seem much less content than others. Parts of the Bronx, Upper Manhattan and a few neighborhoods in Brooklyn, are far outpacing other neighborhoods. Although not intended as such, perhaps this could be a useful tool for someone considering a move to a new neighborhood.
