No-Fee Apartment of the Week: Prime E. Village two-bedroom with laundry & private deck

At $5,800/month, this two-bedroom, two-bathroom rental has the dubious honor of being the most expensive East Village no-fee apartment currently listed on StreetEasy.com. But as anyone who has made an effort to find a nicely renovated, spacious and well-located two-bedroom apartment in that neighborhood can attest, the pickings tend toward the grim.

This bright, new, beautifully renovated unit at 137 East 13th Street (at Third Avenue) was originally listed for $6,250 in October and reduced 10 days later to its current asking price, suggesting to us that there might be further room for negotiation in the slow winter market. The apartment is in an elevator building with only one unit per floor. There's also a large private deck, hardwood floors, and a washer/dryer in the unit. Although not inexpensive, it is one of the most appealing options in the East Village, with a location that is much more central and convenient than most of the neighborhood.

No-Fee Apartment of the Week is writer A. Ready's weekly independent selection of a no-fee rental that she believes reflects good value given current market conditions. It is not an advertisement, nor is it paid for by any company/website mentioned.
