Lincoln Towers, the West 60s apartment complex developed as middle-class housing in the early 1960's, is certainly not everyone's cup of mocha. That said, if you last visited in the mid-1990's, you might want to take another look, because its eight buildings have come a long way since being converted to co-ops in 1987.  All of the parks and playgrounds have been upgraded along with each building's lobbies, while elevators and hallways have been renovated at least once, according to the building description for 185 West End Avenue on StreetEasy. Big, serious bonus: Children at 185 West End receive a seat in coveted P.S. 199.  Factor in the spacious two- and three-bedroom layouts in many of the apartment lines, and many families find the complex a compelling choice.

This high floor two-bedroom, two-bath (pictured) is generously sized with a separate dining alcove, renovated kitchen and bath, large updated closets and new wood floors. It was first listed on September 21 at $1.1 million, and was reduced two weeks later to $999,000. That's about $150,000 less than a two-bedroom just sold for five floors up:  Apartment 28F closed on September 2nd at $1.15m.  The full-service building has a doorman, live-in super, gym, library, and playroom. Laurel Gilbride (917-846-7185) and Kristina Ojdanic (212-401-1910) of Corcoran are the listing agents.
