If you have seen as many apartments as I have, you will understand what I'm talking about here. If not, consider yourself warned.

  • 2,500 square feet, condo, new contruction = 2,000 square feet
  • 2,500 square feet, condo, 1980s/90s construction = 1,800 square feet
  • 2,500 square feet, co-op, post-war = 2,200 square feet
  • 2,500 square feet, co-op, pre-war = 2,500 square feet
  • 2,500 square feet, combination apartment = 2,600 square feet but 400 of that lost in corners of oddly shaped rooms and closets

"Veronica X." is a Canadian by birth, an Upper West Sider by nature, and an Upper East Sider by choice and circumstance. She is presently looking to buy an apartment big enough for her family, her books, and her shoes - not necessarily in that order.
